Student Organization Fundraising
Food/Bake Sale
Student organizations may hold bake sales, if all sanitation guidelines and health regulations, and Office of Student Involvement tabling directives are followed (see Promotional Tables on Campus below). Student organizations need permission from Student Centers if the food is donated. Baked goods must be individually wrapped in clear packing. The bake sale area must be orderly during the sale and must be cleaned thoroughly immediately following the bake sale. If the food is donated, there may be tax implications for the donor. Please review Fundraising Guidance (in Additional Fundraising Support below).
Raffles
A raffle is generally defined as a game in which a player pays something of value to purchase a medium (typically a numbered ticket) through which a player may win something of value through a drawing or other method based on an element of chance.
DePaul University annually obtains a raffle license from the City of Chicago. This raffle license allows any university unit or student organization to hold a raffle as a fundraising event. All charitable games other than raffles require separate approvals from the State of Illinois and/or the City of Chicago. You may need to receive approval from the Division of Advancement and External Relations to conduct your raffle. Please see further instructions on the Raffles at DePaul webpage.
Auctions
Fundraising Events where items are being "sold" or "auctioned" may be executed. Events in which individuals (including services provided by individuals or time with individuals) are “sold” or “auctioned” are prohibited.
Add to this the thoughtfully presented documentation, featuring code highlighting, snippets, class customizer explanation and youve got yourself one powerful value package.
Third-Party Electronic Payments
For the purpose of student organization fundraising or payment of membership dues the use of Third-Party Electronic Payment Services such as but not limited to Venmo, PayPal, Zelle, etc. are not supported by the Office of Student Involvement and DePaul University. If student organizations would like to electronically fundraise, they may request an Inspire DePaul crowdfunding campaign, see below.
