As a member of a student organization, your organization’s operating standards will be outlined within the organization’s constitution. On top of those standards, all organization members shall be entitled to the following rights as a member of any of DePaul’s student organizations:
- Organization members are entitled to understand the full scope of the expectations of membership, including any potential dues, volunteer hour expectations, attendance expectations, etc. These shall be outlined in writing to all organization members prior to confirming membership.
- Organization members are entitled to regular communications from organization leaders through established organization communication channels such as email, group chats, Discord, etc. If a member meets the minimum expectations for organization membership, they are to be included in an organization’s communication channel.
- All organization members shall be informed of meetings where voting or elections will take place.
-
Organization members are protected from improper removal of their membership, including potential removal due to rumors or allegations from peers. Student organizations must follow their outlined membership removal process as noted in their constitution or utilize OSI’s standard membership removal process. Student organizations cannot implement their organization’s conduct process for topics that need to escalate to Student Involvement, the Dean of Students, and/or Office of Gender Equity, such as harassment, bullying, etc.
