Catering & Food

On-Campus: Ordering Catering from Plate 1898

For on campus catering requests, student organizations must register an account with Plate 1898 through https://depaulu.catertrax.com/ in order to place a food order.

All student organization leaders should be familiar with the Catering Policies prior to submitting a catering request. All student organizations are expected to abide by the catering polices.

For most events, food must be ordered five business days in advance of the event. If an organization submits a catering request with less than 5 business days' notice, Plate 1898 may not be able to accommodate the request. If the request can be accommodated, a late fee will be charged to the organization.

For large-scale or complex events, where there will be 300 or more attendees, custom catering requests, or specialty items, please contact catering@depaul.edu at least 10 business days in advance. Some catering requests will require staffing to support the event, this cost will be reflected in your invoice.

Once a catering order has been submitted, an authorization will be required to secure the catering order or approve any adjustments. If the organization does not submit the authorization, the catering order will be cancelled for the event.

If you have any questions or want to speak directly with Plate 1898, please email catering@depaul.edu.

On-Campus: Ordering Food from an Outside Vendor

If a student organization’s event is to be held on DePaul property (Lincoln Park and/or the Loop Campus), all food and beverages must be catered through Plate 1898 unless the entirety of the food purchase will be less than $300.Student organizations are able to use outside vendors for on campus events pending they keep costs below $300 or receive a catering exemption.

Catering Exemption

All requests from DePaul departments or student organizations to waive catering exclusivity with Plate 1898 must be submitted via the Catering Exemption Form on DeHUB through the Blue Demon Hospitality Portal.  Please note, submission of this form is not a guarantee that your request has been approved. Your request will be reviewed and final notification will be issued by an approval of the form in DeHUB. Requests for catering exemptions must be submitted a minimum of one month prior to the event.

Off-Campus Events

If the student organization’s event is not on DePaul University property, food does not have to be ordered from Plate 1898. The use of an outside food vendor is acceptable. However, the group must still contact the Office of Student Involvement to ensure that proper procedures are followed to pay for the food ordered.
