Therapy Dog Events

Rules & Regulations for Therapy Dog Events

Therapy Dog events must be outdoors. On Lincoln Park campus, that can include: the Quad, St. Vincent's Circle, Arts & Letters Patio, and more. On the Loop campus, therapy dog events can happen on the DePaul Center 11th Floor Terrace. In the event of severe weather, the event must be canceled or rescheduled. You are welcome to bring tents for your event. The process for planning a therapy dog should start 4 - 6 weeks prior to your scheduled date and must be fully planned at least 2 weeks prior to the event date. Failure to complete the planning process (including contracting, COI requests, safety plans, and layouts) at least 2 weeks prior to the event date will result in your event being canceled.

Certificate of Insurance

The therapy dog company will be required to sign an agreement with DePaul and provide a Certificate of Insurance (COI) - even if there is no cost. The COI terms are listed within the agreement. Please note, some therapy dog providers will not sign an agreement. Unfortunately, DePaul cannot work with those groups. It is mandatory to complete an agreement and your event will be canceled if it is not provided. Please provide these documents to your vendor early in the process to ensure they are willing to sign.

Safety Plan

In addition to the standard Student Centers forms, you are required to complete a Safety Plan. This safety plan is required in order to protect our students and the university from liability should something happen at your therapy dog event.

Ready to start planning your event? Reach out to Student Centers at studentcenters@depaul.edu to reserve your space and to begin the process.

At this time, only Therapy Dog events are allowed. No other animals are allowed on campus during these events.
