Display of Materials Policy

Posters/flyers approved by the Office of Student Involvement are only permitted for display on the following boards: Lincoln Park Campus Student Center, Schmit Academic Center (Floor 1 Only), Loop Campus Lewis Floors 10-16, Loop Campus DePaul Center Floors 5-11.

For boards outside these specified locations, seek permission from respective University departments. Residence hall materials require approval and stamping at the Residential Education Central Office in Centennial Hall, Lincoln Park Campus (2345 N. Sheffield Avenue). Residential Education Staff will distribute approved flyers to the halls for posting.

Poster approvals are in LPC Student Center 201 (Office of Student Involvement) and Loop DePaul Center 125 (Loop Life Office).

To maintain DePaul University community standards and campus aesthetics, adhere to the following guidelines for materials:

Guidelines for Posters/Flyers

  • Only registered student organizations through the Office of Student Involvement and university departments are eligible to post posters/flyers on campus.  Organizations and departments have is a maximum of 15 copies per campus for posting.
  • External businesses, services, and individuals are not eligible to post on DePaul bulletin boards.
  • Approved theatre experience providers are eligible for a maximum of 5 copies per campus. Approved theatre experience providers can only be displayed on OSI managed boards (Lincoln Park Campus Student Center, Schmit Academic Center (Floor 1 Only), Loop Campus Lewis Floors 10-16, Loop Campus DePaul Center Floors 5-11). To request to be added as an "Approved theatre experience provider," email involvement@depaul.edu.
  • Size is limited to 12x18 inches. One flyer per bulletin board.
  • Posters/flyers must display sponsoring department/organization's name and the official logo of the sponsoring department/organization.  Student organizations must display the contact information for the sponsoring organization.
  • Content must be in alignment with the University's Display of Materials Policy.
  • Student organization posters/flyers- regardless of the posting location- must have the Office of Student Involvement approval stamp or face removal.
  • Event materials funded by SAF-B must include the SAF-B logo from DeHUB.

Large Posters/Oversized Banners

  • Banners must advertise a student organization event or student organization meeting
  • Banners may be hung for no more than two weeks
  • Banners should not be larger than 40” wide x 60” high OR 60” wide x 40” high
  • Banners must clearly display the sponsoring organization for an event, meeting or gathering

Other Marketing Materials

Table Tents:

Table tents can be made from a sheet up to 8.5x11 folded into any form for placement on tables in the University dining centers, with a maximum of one per table. Table tents should be free standing. One copy is necessary for approval by the Office of Student Involvement. Student Centers will clear them at their own discretion.

Hand Bills:

Handbills may be handed out anywhere on campus but cannot disrupt the flow of pedestrian traffic, especially in or near campus buildings.

Chalking:

Refer to Student Center Policies for chalking details. Chalking is allowed on Lincoln Park campus sidewalks only, not on vertical surfaces. Include event details and sponsor info; avoid areas sheltered from rain. Unauthorized locations will be cleared by facility services, and removal costs may be charged. Messages must comply with DePaul's Anti-Discrimination and Anti-Harassment Policy.
