Event Security

When event security is needed for an event, it is the responsibility of the student organization to secure funding and informing Student Centers and Student Involvement of the need for event security.  Security can either be requested by a student organization or may be required from Student Affairs, Student Centers, or Public Safety for specific events.

This resource page outlines the process for requesting security along with anticipated costs.

  1. 1

Contact Student Centers to Begin Process and Request Quote for Security

Once your event has been identified as one that needs security, reach out to Student Centers by emailing studentcenters@depaul.edu to request a quote.  You can anticipate that at least two officers will be required at an average cost of $55 per officer per hour with a four hour minimum ($440 minimum total).

  2. 2

    Identify Sources of Funding

As part of the quote process, Student Centers will ask you to confirm your source for funding.  Security costs are eligible to be covered by SAF, but need to be completed well in advance to meet deadlines for both processes.  If funds for security are paid outside of SAF-B, the invoice will be sent directly to the student organization to pay the company directly.

  3. 3

Set up a Meeting with Student Centers and Student Involvement.

Events requiring security will require an advance event logistics meeting with Student Centers and Student Involvement.  This meeting will include discussing your plan to work with security, addressing potential protests, and other topics.  You can set up this meeting by emailing studentcenters@depaul.edu.

  4. 4

    Execute Your Event

When it's time for your event, be sure to have a lead student contact to connect with Security.  This is often an organization president or security officer.

  5. 5

    Process Invoice for Services

Following your event, work with Student Involvement by emailing orgfunding@depaul.edu to process payment for services for security.
