On this page, you will find a list of actuarial scholarships that our Club Officers have researched and compiled for your convenience. The Allstate Financial Scholarship highlighted below is for DePaul students only, so you have a higher probability of receiving this award. Good luck to all students who apply!

Allstate Financial Actuarial Scholarship (internal — exclusively for DePaul students)

Deadline: April 1
Award: $500
Requirements:

  • Full-time DePaul student in the Fall Quarter following application (i.e. returning student)
  • Have either passed at least one actuarial exam or must be registered to take an actuarial exam at the time of application

The Casualty Actuarial Society Trust Scholarship (external)

Deadline: March 1
Award: $10,000 for first place, $5,000 for second and third place
Requirements:

  • Currently attending college as a full-time student and continuing as a full time student next year
  • Must have sat for at least one actuarial exam 
  • Must be a member of CAS Student Center

DW Simpson Actuarial Science Scholarship Program (external)

Deadline: April 30 / October 31
Award: $1,000 scholarships awarded each semester
Requirements:

  • Entering their senior year of undergraduate study in actuarial science
  • Have maintained a GPA of 3.2 or higher in their major and an overall GPA of 3.0 or better
  • Have passed at least 1 actuarial examination
  • Eligible to work in the United States of America

Curtis E. Huntington Memorial Scholarship (external)

Deadline: April 1
Award: $2,000
Requirements:

  • Full-time undergraduate student
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale
  • At least one actuarial exam passed
  • Nomination by a professor

Actuary of Tomorrow - Stuart A. Robertson Memorial Scholarship (external)

Deadline: June 1
Award: $9,000
Requirements:

  • Full-time undergraduate student
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale
  • At least two actuarial exams passed

Ezra Penland Actuarial Scholarship (external)

Deadline: November 1 / May 1
Award: $500 scholarships awarded each semester
Requirements:

  • Full-time undergraduate student
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale
  • At least one actuarial exam passed

Actuary – A Career Change: Elizabeth M. Mauro Reimbursement Program (external)

Recognizes the limited resources available to career changers aspiring to transition into the actuarial profession
Deadline: August 8
Award: up to $1,000 (reimbursement)
Requirements:

  • Must be 25 or older
  • Must have at least one exam passed prior to application deadline

Actuarial Diversity Scholarship (external)

Promotes diversity through an annual scholarship program for Black/African American, Hispanic, Native North American and Pacific Islander students
Deadline: March 1
Awards Levels:

  • $1,000 – High school senior applying for freshman year
  • $2,000 – College freshman applying for sophomore year
  • $3,000 – College sophomore applying for junior year
  • $4,000 – College junior applying for senior year

Requirements:

  • Intent on pursuing a career in the actuarial profession
  • Must have at least one birth parent who is a member of one of the following minority groups: Black/African American, Hispanic, Native North American, Pacific Islander
  • Enrolling or enrolled as a full-time undergraduate student
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
  • Entering college freshmen must have a minimum ACT math score of 28 or SAT math score of 600

Mutual of Omaha Scholarship for Minority Students (external)

Deadline: October 20
Award: $5,000 (total)
Requirements:

  • A member of one of the following minority groups: African American, Hispanic, Native American, Asian or Pacific Islander, Alaskan Eskimo, or other
  • Must be one of the following: U.S. Citizen; Permanent Resident; Recipient of Asylee or Refugee Status by the Department of Homeland Security – U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Service; Temporary Resident Under 1986 Amnesty Programs
  • Enrolled as a full-time undergraduate student
  • Pursuing an actuarial or mathematics-related degree, with the goal of pursuing an actuarial career
  • Minimum 3.4 GPA on a 4.0 scale
  • Passed at least one actuarial exam

International Association of Black Actuaries Scholarship (external)

Provides scholarships at the undergraduate and graduate level for black students who are interested in pursuing actuarial careers
Deadline: March 31
Award: $3,000-$5,000
Requirements:

  • A citizen or permanent resident of the United States; or a citizen or permanent resident of Canada, a citizen of any Caribbean or African nation on a United States or Canadian student visa
  • Admitted to a college or university in the United States or Canada offering either a program in actuarial science or courses that will serve to prepare the student for an actuarial career
  • Have a GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale

Part-Time Master’s Scholarship Awards (external)

The Spencer Educational Foundations awards Part-time Master’s Scholarships to risk practitioners who attend graduate school part-time or online, while working full-time. Selected recipients will receive awards of up to $10,000. The award is given to recipients who will be enrolled part-time at an institution of higher learning during the 2016-17 academic year. The financial amount of the award would be equal to the student’s actual tuition and fees cost, offset by any corporate reimbursement, to a maximum of $10,000.

  • Enrollment status: Part-time Master’s candidate (minimum 12 hours of study per 12 month period)
  • Field of study – normally a major or minor in a risk-management discipline
  • Career objective in risk management
  • Relevant work experience
  • Leadership skills
  • Strong undergraduate academic performance
  • Documentation outlining employer’s tuition reimbursement policy
  • Candidates in Executive MBA programs are ineligible for these scholarships.
  • Application Deadline: January 31.  May 1 = Deadline to submit scholarship applications for this category of scholarship. The Foundation’s Education Committee will review applications after that time.
