What is Psi Chi?

Psi Chi is an international honors society in psychology, founded in 1929 for the purpose of encouraging, stimulating, and maintaining excellence in scholarship and advancing the science of psychology. Membership is open to undergraduate and graduate students who major or minor in psychology and meet the minimum qualifications listed below. Psi Chi is a member of the Association of College Honor Societies and is an affiliate of the American Psychological Association (APA) and the Association for Psychological Science (APS). Psi Chi’s sister honor society is Psi Beta, the National Honor Society in Psychology for community and junior colleges.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Enrolled as a student at DePaul University
  • Minimum undergraduate GPA of 3.25
  • Minimum psychology GPA of 3.50
  • At least a second-semester sophomore
  • Enrolled as a major or minor in a psychology program
  • Completed at least 14 (3.5 classes) quarter hours of psychology courses.

There are several benefits of joining Psi Chi for undergraduates, graduate students, and faculty! Being a part of Psi Chi leadership allows for a variety of opportunities to get involved in the psychology department, connect with faculty and peers, and develop leadership and collaborative skills.

Application Deadline

There is a rolling deadline.

The earlier you apply, the earlier you can become a member and gain access to member benefits.​

How do I apply?

1. Complete the application on the Psi Chi website: https://www.psichi.org/page/JoinToday​.

2. Email Dr. Li (yli34@depaul.edu​) to say that you applied online and attach a complete copy of your unofficial transcript (NOT your course history report).

3. If you meet the eligibility requirements, you will be approved and receive an email from Psi Chi requesting that you pay for your membership online (They will provide you with a payment link).

4. You will have a limited time to pay for your lifetime membership ($70). Usually within 2-3 business days after Psi Chi receives and processes your payment, you will receive a Welcome New Member email from Psi Chi. If you do not receive it within this time frame, please check your junk/clutter/spam folder.

5. Join the DePaul Chapter of Psi Chi on DeHUB at https://dehub.depaul.edu/psichi.
