Updates from the Councils!
This section will provide an opportunity for our 4 Governing Councils to provide community wide updates of things they are working on throughout the Quarter.
Multicultural Greek Council (MGC) :
Currently, MGC is working to rebuild how our council operates, with the goal of elevating our professionalism, and prestige. By doing so we hope to empower and encourage the members of our council to increase multicultural fraternity and sorority visibility on campus. While we are still in the process of developing and reforming our ideas, we have made many small strides toward this goal. If you have any general questions or want to connect, reach out to Shayla Garcia via email mgcpresident.depaul@gmail.com.
Interfraternity Council (IFC):
The IFC is currently focusing on administrative tasks, such as overlooking bylaws for the coming Spring Quarter. If anyone has any questions, they can always contact ifc@depaul.edu.
National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC):
Our chapters have been busy this quarter with various community service events, hosting Founder's weeks and game nights, and preparing for lots of events in Spring Quarter. For more information about NPHC, people can reach out to nphc@depaul.edu.
Panhellenic Council (PHC):
Panhellenic is currently working on updating the bylaws to help ensure greater understanding in the community. They are also brainstorming ways to make general body meetings more interactive to get more delegates and members to engage with one another! There are a lot of philanthropy weeks currently happening for Panhellenic sororities and the money they are raising for such good causes! You can reach out to Panhellenic at DePaul.panhel@gmail.com!

Campus Partner Spotlight
This section will highlight a new office or department and resources they can provide to FSL Students!
Name: Office of Gender Equity (OGE) Location:Lincoln Park Student Center, Suite 308 Contact Information:titleixcoordinator@depaul.edu / 312-362-8970 / go.depaul.edu/oge How can FSL Students use this campus partner:
OGE is responsible for responding to reports of sex and/or gender-based discrimination, harassment, and misconduct, including sexual and relationship violence. We are also responsible for assisting all our pregnant and parenting students and informing them of their rights under Title IX as it relates to pregnancy, parenting, childbirth, and all related conditions (including loss/termination of pregnancy). In addition to responding to reports of these matters and assisting impacted individuals, we also conduct trainings for students, faculty, and staff related to these circumstances. Any students, faculty, and staff that experience instances related to these concerns can contact OGE for information about their rights and options. OGE prioritizes the choice of the impacted individual in determining the next steps taken. Unless information shared suggests that we must take action due to a mandate in state and/or federal law, or a concern for community safety, action is required by the impacted party in order to initiate any OGE process/measure. OGE can offer a multitude of options/assistance for students experiencing situations related to the above list of concerns, including but not limited to:
Connecting you to on-campus resources, such as University Counseling and Psychological Services (UCAPS), Health Promotion and Wellness (HPW), Center for Students with Disabilities (CSD), Public Safety, and more.
Sending letters to your professors requesting they provide you with academic flexibility throughout the quarter. This can look different, depending on each class and the student’s needs, but most often it provides students with extra time to complete assignments and exams.
Sending notification to your professors to excuse you from class due to a documented reason related to your OGE-related experience. This can include instances where a student has a medical appointment as a result of the OGE-related incident, or if a student must appear in court due to being involved in the legal process of an OGE-related situation.
Holding a reasonable directive meeting with the respondent/alleged student of a report. This meeting would involve OGE discussing the report with the respondent and explaining that the alleged behavior doesn’t align with DPU’s mission and policies.
Putting a mutual No Contact Directive (NCD) in place between two students. NCD’s are temporary and usually in place for a quarter at a time, with the option to extend it if necessary. NCD’s include all forms and means of contact or communication, either directly or through others, including but not limited to in person, email, text message, instant message, social media, and phone. These directives apply both on- and off-campus.
Conducting a formal investigation into a report. OGE will only move forward with an investigation if, A) an impacted individual decides they would like the incident(s) to be investigated, B) the reported behavior is about a university employee, or C) there is a severe concern for the overall safety of the university community. In most cases where an investigation occurs, the impacted party has chosen to pursue it. If an investigation begins due to reason B or C, OGE will always inform the impacted student of that fact and go over their rights and options within an investigation. Impacted students are not required to participate in an investigation.
For More information:For more information about our office, our trainings, and/or these support options, please don’t hesitate to reach out (OGE contact information included above).
