What is J-CLUB?

The Genki Japanese Language Club (GJLC) is a Japanese language-focused club, newly registered at DePaul. Our mission is to cheer on all students' language-learning goals and foster a dedicated J-study community in the Modern Languages Department!

Creative Review Sessions

J-CLUB hosts bi-weekly Review Sessions for each chapter of DePaul's JPN course textbook, Genki I.  Sessions are fun, engaging, and student-led!

Events and Community

Join our quarterly events and community-building meets! Find other students with the same language-learning goals as you.

Supported Learning

Structured review, access to study resources, and connection to the JPN department promote supported language learning.

Members Benefits

Benefits of membership include… a supportive learning community, organized lessons and events, and a deeper understanding of the Japanese language.

  • Partnership with MOL Department

J-CLUB is partnered with the Japanese Studies program within DePaul's Modern Languages Department (MOL). Our club content is focused on the Genki I: An Integrated Course in Japanese textbook, used by DePaul language courses. Chapters 1-12 of Genki are covered within JPN courses 101-103, and later built upon in JPN courses 104-106. J-CLUB content aligns with 100-level classes, but can be a beneficial review, practice, and source of community for students in higher-level courses.

Click this link for more information about the Modern Language Department. DePaul offers the Japanese studies undergraduate major, as well as a Japanese and Japanese studies minor.

  • Use of Genki I: An Integrated Course in Japanese

J-CLUB Review Session material is derived from the Genki I: An Integrated Course in Japanese textbook, used by MOL.

  • Getting More Involved

In our effort to uplift DePaul's Japanese language community, we are always looking for new ideas and faces! Email our president (kwrigh@depaul.edu) with any ideas, comments, or questions.

Officer elections take place during Spring Quarter. Connect with any Executive Board member to be considered as a candidate.
