About Us
This organization seeks to facilitate speech-language pathology students' involvement, engagement, and leadership development to advance awareness, sensitivity, and competence regarding multilingual & multicultural issues in the field of speech-language pathology. Additionally, this organization's mission is to promote initiatives for bilingual speech-language pathology students through a social and professional platform where students can interact and collaborate. VOICES (Values, Outreach, Inclusion, Culture, Equity) SLP students for DEI was founded as an extension of DePaul University's commitment to education and its dedication to supporting underserved and underrepresented communities. VOICES provides a specialized framework to empower multilingual and multicultural students in speech-language pathology while fostering a safe, inclusive environment that promotes diversity and inclusion. Guided by DePaul's Vincentian values, VOICES emphasizes leadership, collaboration, and cultural competence. It strives to equip speech-language pathology students with the skills to provide culturally responsive care, understand the importance of interprofessional collaboration, and develop as future leaders committed to driving meaningful change. Through these efforts, VOICES aims to prepare its members to deliver the highest quality care to the patients they will serve.
