Mission
14 East is a collaborative of DePaul students cultivating an interest in a wide array of subjects from politics to literature to culture. From this magazine, readers can find unique perspectives on issues pertinent to young adults in Chicago. We aim to humanize the issues that are attracting attention in the social atmosphere.

The free exchange of ideas is crucial to the mission of any university tasked with education. The free and independent press, it follows, are a necessity for our school, and having more than one outlet certainly couldn't hurt. However, 14 East is not simply a soap box from which the loudest voices may prevail: our magazine has made a concerted effort in its first few months of active publication to shine a light on stories that would otherwise go untold, giving a voice and platform to those who cannot speak for themselves. When it comes to planning the future for the magazine -- our next lineup, month or year -- there is only one question we need ask ourselves: what must be done? With that mindset as our guide, our goal of humanizing our subjects is not met when we put their picture on our website; only when we've captured their actual dignity can we say that we've done our job. Someone once said that a journalist's job is to comfort the afflicted and afflict the comfortable. The staff at 14 East aims to do exactly that.

This organization seeks to create a safer and more inclusive environment for Disabled students at DePaul University. We will achieve this with programming, advocacy work, and through the community we create together. We seek to serve Disabled students by creating a community that prioritizes the lived experience of Disabled students and by advocating for widespread accessibility and social change.

Accessible Futures DePaul works to serve and bring attention to the disabled population on campus. Accessible Futures DePaul is by disabled students for disabled students and bridges the gap between disability and campus life. We follow the Vincentian value of helping people in need and standing up for people in cases of justice. As an organization not only do we discuss disability but how that intersects with other identities and what that represents. We work to build community and destigmatize disability while promoting resilience and empathy.

The purpose of the ANKLE organization is to develop student knowledge regarding the various professions in podiatric medicine. It is designed to encourage students with the hopes of becoming of doctor of podiatric medicine and illustrate the admission process through seminars, guest speakers, workshops, and community service opportunities. All of these opportunities will effectively prepare students to enter into the podiatry school application process with substantial background knowledge of the field and opportunities available. This club will also work to improve students with the knowledge, skills, attitudes, and commitment necessary to enter medicine as a doctor of podiatry, to one day care for the healthcare needs of their patients.

Mission
The DePaul Alive Inside club draws on student interests in neuroscience, music, and service to grow meaningful community engagement with Chicago's aged population with a particular focus on brain health. Persons over the age of 65 represent the world's fastest growing population, and as societies become older, the need for effective and meaningful strategies to improve and maintain cognitive health increases. Significant evidence supports the use of music to restore brain functions, including the memory loss observed in dementia patients, especially those with Alzheimer's disease. Our club aims to raise awareness for the therapeutic value of music and the aging brain by bringing the health and wellness of music directly into Chicago-area nursing homes. Students will find a unique opportunity to explore means of using music as therapy and its healing power when prescription medicines fall short. This outreach will provide student members with the opportunity to learn and appreciate the neuroscience of health and disease, the joy and power of music, and the value of multidisciplinary approaches to problem solving.

Membership benefits of participating in Alive Inside include opportunities to practice community service through means such as volunteering at local nursing homes to explore the powerful effects of music on brain health. Students interested in the opportunity for musical performance are cordially invited to bring a musical connection between DePaul students and the community. But more importantly, students will expand their knowledge of brain health in correlation to neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's Disease or Dementia. Students will be able to apply knowledge beyond a lecture setting by applying it to the community.

The Asian Pacific Islander Desi American (APIDA) Cultural Center is one of the four Cultural & Resource Centers at DePaul University. The APIDA Cultural Center seeks to foster belonging for APIDA-identified students by providing resources and opportunities for identity, academic, professional, and holistic development.

The center is located at the Lincoln Park Campus in O'Connell Hall, Room 340 (1036 W. Belden). No membership is required to visit and spend time in the APIDA Cultural Center! It is open to all students during open hours to study, eat, engage in discussions, and be with community. The Cultural & Resource Centers are open:
