Music and Entertainment🎬
Daddy Yankee- Lovumba🪩
Recommended to you by Keidy Cando
Looking for a mood booster song with a pumped up beat? Well, Daddy Yankee always delivers. This song mixes love/chemistry with reggaeton style music to create a song that everyone can dance to. The lyrics explain the explosive feelings between two people on the dance floor and the magnetic attraction of wanting to be close to each other. Daddy Yankee is an icon when it comes to the reggaeton genre, helping the globalization of Latin music to the U.S. We're starting off October with good vibes and upbeat music thanks to Keidy's recommendation.💘
Rauw Alejandro - De Carolina📍
Recommended to you by Ariana Salgado
"Saturno" is one of Rauw Alejandro's best albums, with some of my favorite songs belonging to Saturno. This song is a mix of the old reggaeton sound with Rauw's modern spin to the genre. The main point being to honor his hometown, Carolina, Puerto Rico. The song honors the roots of reggaeton, his success, and celebrates Rauw Alejandro's Puerto Rican identity. "De Carolina" is another upbeat song that you can dance to, and feel connected to the cultural pride embedded into the song. Saturno is also Rauw Alejandro's iconic blue hair era, and everytime I see a throwback TikTok, I regret not going to the tour.🪐
Real Women Have Curves💝
Starring: America Ferrera
Set in East L.A, America Ferrera plays Ana Garcia, a first-generation Mexican-American teenage girl. As it is Hispanic Heritage Month, this movie covers topics in the Mexican-American experience some students may relate to. Body image issues, familial pressure, and the decision of whether or not to persue higher education are all topics addressed in this film. If you have not watched this movie, I definitely recommend it as America Ferrera was a prominent Latina actor who paved the way in Hollywood.
That's a wrap for this month's newsletter, and stay tuned for November to stay in the loop on what's happening with MESA. Hope you enjoyed this month's newsletter, and check out our Instagram for any updates throughout the month.🍂
