Welcome to UACA!

What is UACA?

The Ukrainian-American Cultural Association at DePaul University is dedicated to fostering a vibrant and inclusive community that celebrates and promotes the rich tapestry of Ukrainian culture.

Our philosophy

We provide opportunities for members to explore, appreciate, and engage with Ukrainian traditions, history, and heritage. Additionally, we work to raise awareness about the ongoing war in Ukraine and provide needed resources to help those affected. Through organizing various cultural events and educational initiatives, we strengthen cross-cultural ties.

We empower members to become global citizens with a deep appreciation for Ukraine and its rich cultural heritage. Together, we strive to build a community that values diversity, inclusion, and mutual support.

Unissued Diplomas Exhibition

This project features the life stories of 40 students with the aim of commemorating our peer students who lost their lives due to the russian invasion. We also hope to raise funds for Ukraine's needs to bring closer the victory and prevent further loss of life among Ukrainian youth.

Pysanka Workshop

Discover the captivating world of pysanky, decorated Easter eggs that hold centuries of symbolism and tradition. Come join us to learn how to write Pysankas for the upcoming Orthodox Easter using a unique Ukrainian traditional wax technique. Supplies will be provided. All are welcome!

20 Days in Mariupol Screening

We are collaborating with DePaul CDM School of Cinematic Arts to screen the Oscar-winning documentary by Pulitzer Prize-winning Ukrainian journalist Mstyslav Chernov. It is a film that is painful but essential to see.

UACA x DPSA Picnic

After having a blast at our previous event with the Polish club, we decided to collaborate again! This time, we will be co-hosting a picnic in May. Details will follow soon, so stay tuned!

Past Events

Thank you so much to everyone who attended our on-campus events! It was great to meet you and share our culture with you. We had a lot of fun, especially playing Kahoot and doing icebreaker activities. We hope you enjoyed Ukrainian cuisine and snacks, and we can't wait to see you again soon!
