Join us for an exciting dive into the world of filmmaking with the creators of the short documentary Invisible Giants! This powerful film shines a light on the untold stories of Black women in Chicago, revealing the importance of preserving and celebrating often-overlooked histories. You'll get a behind-the-scenes look at how an inspiring text was transformed into a captivating short film. Watch clips from the documentary and hear directly from Essence McDowell, author and filmmaker, and Tom Callahan, video journalist and filmmaker, as they share their creative journey and what it takes to bring stories like these to life.
Co-organized by African and Black Diaspora Studies, Center for Black Diaspora, International Studies, and Women’s Center.
