Panel discussion with a number of attorneys from different areas of immigration law, who will provide their thoughts, insights, and advice to students interested in practicing in immigration law. Speakers include Janette Romero, Ana Valenzuela, and Jeffrey Cohn. Student Affairs will be a collaborator for this event. More collaborators may be added.

Ana is a DePaul alumn who was selected as a 2024 Rising Star in immigration by Super Lawyers, part of Thomson Reuters. Ana’s practice focuses on removal defense and family-based immigration, including family-based petitions, waivers,adjustments of status, and naturalization. Her practice also includes asylum, U-visas, and VAWA self-petitions. Ana has practiced immigration law in the Chicago area since 2015. Prior to joining Minsky, McCormick & Hallagan, P.C., Ana was a supervising attorney with National Immigrant Justice Center’s Immigrant Legal Defense Project.

Jeffrey is a DePaul alumn who was selected as a 2024 Rising Star in immigration by Super Lawyers, part of Thomson Reuters. He is currently head of the Wolin Law Group's newly formed immigration law practice area. He works in a wide variety of immigration law areas and has extensive experience with a broad range of immigration case processes (e.g., adjustment of status, asylum (and withholding of removal and deferral of removal under the Convention Against Torture), bond hearings, citizenship/naturalization, deferred inspections, removal defense (immigration court hearings, U visas, etc.). He is highly skilled at affirmative and defensive immigration case processes, and especially enjoys defending his clients in immigration court (detained and non-detained).
