Breathwork and grounding has traditions in Ancient Egypt, famously acknowledged as Kemet. Yirser Ra Hotep is a master instructor of Yoga and the creator of the YogaSkills Method. He is the most senior instructor of Kemetic Yoga in the United States, with over 45 years of experience practicing and teaching. This conversation will cover: What is Kemetic Yoga? What does Kemetic mean and to what historical tradition(s) is it connected? How can we apply this to communities that are besieged by the state and other institutional and interpersonal violence? The event will also showcase basic poses and breathing techniques of this practice that we can use to keep us hope-filled in times of stress and trauma.

This event is hybrid. Please contact centerforblackdiaspora@depaul.edu with any questions.
