As part of the celebration, new students and all international students will process in the New Student Cavalcade from McGrath-Phillips Arena to the Quad. Along the way, returning students, faculty and staff will line the pathway to celebrate the expansion of our campus community. Once at the Quad, the annual academic welcome will be delivered by university leadership, including President Robert Manuel, Provost Salma Ghanem, the Student Government Association President, and others. Following the welcome, attendees are welcomed to stay for our Chicago food festival, performances, photo stations, and more.
Schedule of Events:
3:00 p.m. - Blue Demon Welcome Check In begins
- New first year students, new graduate students, and transfer students meet in McGrath-Phillips Arena
- Returning students, faculty, and staff meet at Quad
- All international students meet in McGrath-Phillips Arena
3:45 p.m. - New Student Cavalcade from McGrath-Phillips Arena to Quad
4:00 p.m. - Academic Welcome
4:30-6:15 p.m. - Chicago food festival, performances, and interactive stations
6:30 p.m. - Blue Demon Welcome Ends
6:30-9:30 p.m. - After Hours in LPC Student Center
