The DePaul Humanities Center is pleased to present an evening with our
2022-2023 Humanities Laureate, Stanley Qiufan CHEN!

Writing the Future: Science Fiction and Climate Justice

Humanity needs new stories for a rapidly changing world: narrative
paths to more equity and freedom; maps that feature utopia; sharper
descriptions of privilege and the need for reparation; new stories of
sustainable ecology; tales of relationship with other forms of
intelligence (animal, artificial, astrobiological).

Join us for an exciting conversation about “how to write the
future” with DHC Humanities Laureate Stanley Qiufan CHEN, one of
China’s most famous science fiction writers. CHEN will discuss
innovative narrative worldbuilding with poet, editor, and activist
Dr. Tara Betts and literary scholar Dr. John Shanahan.

Wednesday, April 12 at 6:30pm to 8:00pm
DePaul Student Center, 120 2250 N. Sheffield Ave.
