Photojournalism uses images to tell stories about the news and current events. Photojournalists are visual reporters. DePaul's journalism program offers both photojournalism and sports photojournalism courses. These are cross listed with Art and Sports Communication, and are available for master's students too.
DePaul's Art program offers a photography minor and a number of photography related courses. The Film program also offers a photography class. See list of photo-related courses below.
There are opportunities to cover sports for the DePaulia newspaper and to work for DePaul Athletics. The journalism program also offers a sports photojournalism class. Some of these students have gone on to work in paid student positions at DePaul Athletics, and gotten jobs in the industry.
There are opportunities to cover campus events for a small stipend. The Office of Student Involvement hires student photographers to cover student events. In addition, the DePaul Student Photo Agency, run out of the College of Communication, allows DePaul units to hire student photographers to cover events.
The DePaulia, our campus newspaper, is always looking for photographers to cover stories. To get involved, please e-mail photo@depauliaonline.com.
