Details

Flowers for Dad is a short performance event performance by Dusty Goltz, Vincent de Paul Professor of Communication and Performance Studies. The event opens with a 40-minute solo work exploring how men are taught to speak, stay silent, love, and grieve in US culture. Blending personal narrative, popular culture, and storytelling, the performance examines masculine communication, the complex bond between fathers and sons, and what masculinity looks like in this cultural moment. Through a blend of humor and drama, this intimate piece invites audiences to reflect on what is inherited, what is withheld, and how masculinity is framed and constrained in our relationships.
The second half of the event shifts from performance to participation, as guided dialogues invite audiences to unpack key themes that emerged from the work. The dialogue will explore questions raised by the performance and create space for reflection, connection, and shared conversation.
Food Provided (light snacks will be provided)
