Mission
It is the mission of the First Gen DePaul Student Organization to bring together a community of students who identify as first-generation college students at DePaul University and create spaces where students can develop connections with others who share this identity and cultivate strong leadership and future success amongst peers. We work to foster the value of shared experiences and consistently create a community of visibility and advocacy for students who have not had a clear path for themselves and little guidance on how to get through college and achieve their goals. Throughout this organization, we work to take away the feeling of having to understand the college process alone as we push first-generation students to feel empowered to ask for help in addition to the student organization's resources.

Our organization is focused on building community amongst first generation students and bringing awareness of the first generation identity throughout DePaul's campus. Our student organization's mission aligns with the DePaul University Mission as we are committed to meeting students where they are and providing them with support to get through college and achieve their goals. Through our program we support students through the Vincentian values of personalism and professionalism, as we see each student holistically, which guides our programming when planning events and creating initiatives that supports a student as a whole. We believe this organization makes higher education more accessible as we work to build a space where students come together to share their lived experiences, and can voice their concerns in a supportive environment that will help them seek solutions and provide guidance.
