Details

Aya United (also referred to as Aya) is a peer support group for individuals who have navigated life via the experiences of Black womanhood. This circle-style group will serve as a space for individuals to share their experiences, learn from each other, and build community with other individuals who understand how society treats Black women. Circles originated from Indigenous spaces. They have been passed along so that communities may use them for support and spaces for radical healing. Many of the foundational values and ideologies used to create this circle have been adapted from a sexual assault circle that is led through the Women’s Center, and that circle adapted their practices from indigenous teachings. In this space we will engage with important topics such as self-confidence, mental health, colorism, and sexuality.

To be as accessible as possible, Aya United is a hybrid model.
